Crisostomo on stage during the general session

Nikki Crisostomo, a senior at Sherman Indian High School, recently attended the National Association of Secondary Schools Principal LEAD Student Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., from Jan. 25-28, 2024. Crisostomo, a senior member of the Sherman Chapter of the National Honor Society, is serving in a highly esteemed position as one of eight members of the NASSP’s LEAD Student Advisory Committee. She has held this high-level leadership position since June 2023, proudly representing Sherman and showcasing her dedication to leadership and service as a member of the National Honor Society and National Student Council.

At the conference, Crisostomo had the opportunity to serve as an emcee on stage during general sessions, as well as facilitate sessions and connect with other student leaders from around the country.

“I’m truly grateful for the experiences that I’ve been able to be a part of,” she said. “It’s had a profound impact on my self-confidence in speaking and conversing with student leaders of our country. I was able to represent myself, my family, my school and my Tribes at the national leadership conferences, further displaying my identity to the many states/countries in attendance.”

Crisostomo has maintained a cumulative GPA at or above 4.0 during her tenure as a member of NHS, has an exceptional behavioral record, and is held in high esteem by her teachers and staff. She is looking forward to graduating this May and to attending college to study criminal justice in addition to joining the Air Force. Crisostomo is Northern Paiute, Chamorro and enrolled in Yerington Paiute.
